Rape threat report lodged but no action yet | |||

Outraged by the insults and threats hurled at her during a dialogue session last Saturday, Batu Tiga state assemblyperson Rodziah Ismail has lodged a police report today at the Shah Alam district police station against perpetrators.
But Rodziah (right) now fears for the safety of her family members and staff as the police have failed to look into the matter.
"Intimidation of this nature tarnishes my reputation and is insulting. I am disappointed with the behaviour of the individuals who issued the threat.
"If they have no qualms at all in insulting and threatening a state assemblyperson and state exco member, how much more would other women face in dealing with such people," she said.
Stressing that this was blatant disregard for state leaders, Rodziah also said that their intent was to smear the Selangor government's reputation for political reasons.
Among the insults and threats allegedly uttered by several individuals were "jalang" (loose), "Rodziah mengalahkan pelacur, pelacur lebih baik dari kau!", "sundal", before one finally said, "Aku akan rogol kau, Rodziah!" (I will rape you) .
"Other than the video clip, the insulting phrases were heard by the residents, journalists and security personnel who were present," she said.
'Book them, cops'
Lending her support was Shah Alam member of parliament Khalid Samad who urged the culprits to be brought to book for going against the law and breaching the boundaries of religion and culture.
"I am aware of the death threats against me. Although Khir Toyo is in a state of denial, we will show proof," he said.
Alleging that the culprits were under Umno's patronage, he said that they were emboldened by Home Minister Hishammudin Hussein's protection, Selangor Umno deputy chief Datuk Noh Omar's encouragement and also former menteri besar Khir Toyo's approval.
"The rakyat rejects Umno although Umno harbours ambitions to take over Selangor. Umno should respect the rakyat's decision," he said.
Also present were Ampang member of parliament Zuraida Kamaruddin, Rawang state assemblyperson Gan Pei Nei, PAS Muslimat chief Nuridah Mohd Salleh, Selangor PKR Women chief Haniza Talha and Subang Jaya state assemblyperson Hannah Yeoh.
Lawyer Felicia Ling, acting on behalf of Rodziah, said that the threats amount to criminal intimidation to stop Rodziah from performing her duties as state assemblyperson.
"They can be charged under Section 502 and Section 499 of the Penal Code," said Ling, who is also Federal Territory PKR Wanita chief.
